The history of pudding is a complicated topic. Over time, many different kinds of foods have been known by this name. Few have truly deserved it. Sadly, the instant stamp of legitimacy associated with the Pudding name has been misappropriated by other creamy knock-offs and as a result, Your Honors, Pudding has suffered. You see, the creamy, rich confection we (Americans) classify as Pudding, found at the end of Asian super buffets and public school lunch lines, doused miserably in chocolate and banana artificial flavors, is in fact the secret descendants of my client's bastard cousin, Custard. Thus, the case before this court today has extreme significance. It is the role of this court, nay, its duty, to reconfigure our understanding of what is and is not Pudding back to the true meaning of the word.
